I got out the boutique glass for the first time in a while. Thank goodness I kept notes, I never would have remembered what some of these boutique colors (double helix) did. I was in the mood to revisit some older things, so I did my best to recreate the 2015 set. As much as I love working with fine silver foil, with its funny little crinkles, crazes and cracks where the glass got a bit stretched, I'm feeling a bit stingy with it, seeing as how it's up to $50 a troy ounce right now. I'm hoping that bubble (along with a few other crappy bubbles) bursts pretty soon, because it's also keeping me from making rings. Or maybe it's yet another excuse to procrastinate for some reason I seem to be obscuring from myself. Whatever, I completely digress. These are pretty good! They're baroque and hella chunky, to boot. These would look smashing with some of that opal Czech glass in just the right color, or string them up with something chunky and black for some real drama. Building jewelry involves a fair amount of strategy to achieve just the right balance of design, color and construction and sometimes it takes a while. Enjoy the trip, it's just as much, if not more, fun that wearing the dang thing once you get it done!
About the beads:
These lampwork beads are made by Sarah Moran with soda-lime glass (also known as soft glass), and are kiln annealed for strength and long life. I do my best to provide an accurate representation in the photos. If you are interested in buying but have questions, please contact me.
